Alanah is a strong, passionate advocate for her clients. She is meticulous, detail-oriented, and focused, allowing her to assess and work through legal problems efficiently and effectively. Alanah works closely with her clients at each step in the process to meet each client’s particular needs. If you need a gentle hand to guide you through the legal process, Alanah’s got you. If you need a firmer approach, she’s got you there, too. Alanah is adaptable, and her practice is client-focused. Her greatest pride is to give a voice to clients while navigating the legal system to obtain desired outcomes.
Alanah has a keen interest in criminal law and family law, as well as health and medicine, which lends itself very well to her personal injury practice. Alanah has appeared successfully before trial level and appellate level courts throughout Nova Scotia, as well as an application for child support in Alberta. Alanah has numerous publications in the area of criminal law with a focus on evidence law and sexual assault.
Her background in ancient philosophy and languages allowed her to develop excellent writing and communication skills during her undergraduate education. She completed the foundation year program at the University of King’s College and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from Dalhousie University in 2014. Alanah’s research and writing skills were honed at the University of New Brunswick in the law department, where she acted as a research assistant and teaching assistant. She completed a summer clerkship at the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and worked closely with the Honourable Lieutenant Governor, Arthur LeBlanc, then Justice of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. Alanah won the legal writing prize and received a scholarship for excellence in criminal law. She graduated on the Dean’s list with a Juris Doctor in 2018. She has been employing her skills in the legal field ever since to advance her client’s interests in each case.
Outside of the office and the courtroom, Alanah is a fitness and outdoor enthusiast. You’ll find her cycling, hiking, at the gym, on the water, or horseback riding.
