Jack has more than 48 years experience providing advice to clients in areas of corporate law, land use planning, residential and commercial real property development and estate planning. He has frequently appeared before Municipal Councils and the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board in relation to land use and development proposals. Jack has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for his practice in real estate law each year since 2006 and was the first person to be named the “Best of the Best” in the Halifax Regional Municipality when that category was created in 2010. He also features in the Canadian Legal L’Expert Directory.
Jack is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and is a past member of Bar Council and past chair of the Society Services, and Fitness to Practice Committees. He received the designation of Queen’s Counsel in 1985.
Jack is a member of the Canadian Bar Association where he has served as President of the Nova Scotia Branch, President of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association, Chairman of the Legal Profession Assistance Conference and a five year term as National Treasurer. For his service, Jack received the Nova Scotia Branch Distinguished Service Award in 1999, the Louis St. Laurent Award of Excellence in 2000 and the Douglas Miller Award in 2011.
Jack is past president of the former Bedford Board of Trade, the Halifax-Cobequid Boy Scout Council and Oakfield Golf Club.
